I can’t move my arm much because of the pain and stiffness…
Frozen shoulder can be a very painful condition that is debilitating for a long period of time and requires regular and early treatment.
There is no known ‘cause’ of a frozen shoulder but we believe it can be likened to the idea of our bodies slowly ‘rusting’ or becoming more immobile and stiff due to soft tissue hardening.
In the case of frozen shoulder, what often happens is the joint capsule thickens and stiff bands of tissue (called adhesions) can develop. The tissues of the joint become compromised with a consequent reduction of function.
What to do about it?
Frozen shoulder will get better over time, but if left untreated can take up to 3 years to improve.
Here at Thrive we use Tui Na massage and acupuncture alongside a guided physical exercise program to help restore motion and health to the tissues of the joint.
What can I do to prevent it happening?
You may have to learn how to move your body in a less taxing and more efficient way in the future and we can help you to do this.
