Seborrhoeic Dermatitis (inc dandruff)
Sometimes called Seborrhoeic Eczema, this is inflamed (red) and flaking-itching skin mostly on oil rich (sebaceous gland) areas on the face and sometimes the chest. A yeast (Malassezia, formerly known as Pityrosporum ovale) is usually involved.
Treatment is aimed at stopping itching, reducing redness and eliminating the yeast internally as well as externally, otherwise the problem will tend to come back.
What is the treatment?
A combination of special cream for the face, tincture for the scalp if involved and herbal medicine to swallow. A specific diet should be followed to allow the gut to heal and repair at the same time as following the rest of the programme. If stress is an issue, then stress reduction techniques can be helpful.
