Lyme Disease, Borreliosis and Neuro Lyme
Some people with Chronic fatigue or Fibromyalgia-like symptoms may have Lyme Disease, picked up from a tick bite, which can transmit the Borrelia spirochete bacteria. Lyme can also cause a wide range of other symptoms, including neurological issues due to effecting the nervous system, and this is referred to as Neurological Lyme Disease, or Neuro-borreliosis.
Diagnosis of Lyme Disease is difficult and can be inconclusive, but may be necessary in anyone presenting with a particularly complex symptom picture.
When assessing for or treating someone with suspected Lyme, we would do so as part of a team including Dr Damien Downing, leading environmental medicine expert at New Medicine Group.
